<lj:music>Apostrophe to the sea demo</lj:music>

After a crazy series of events, i decided to start vocals today!!

I woke up at 7:30, ate french toast, and drank a lot of water and tea. We played in west chester last night, so I had to make sure that i didnt sing my voice out and that whatever I lost last night was back today.

at around 9:40 i went to ed's and started on Apostrophe to the Sea. I did each verse a few times through, and then sort of circled back and filled in the spots that could be better. We ended up taking a lot of time on it doing harmonies and all, but I was happy with the demo version I got when I left.

I had to go down to st.joes at 4, but I went back and we worked on choruses from 7 until when ed had to leave.

Next sunday is my next session. Can't wait to finish up apostrophe and start working on another... maybe firecracker???

-doug

wow, thanks to bq for writing a ton of shit that no one can comprehend! today we finished bq's guitars and started mine. i only have two songs left of the 5 that we started. there should be 2 more songs afterwards as well. everything sounds beautiful thanks to ed myers. the eagles won today! it was a close one but since im the only one besides max who cares about football in capitol risk, it was a very important part to my day. i remember working on one tough part and after a few unsuccessful takes i nailed it when i saw ben roethlisberger hurt. iam going to hell. today was funny though. i figured out that if you play F-A-G on a xylophone its a much nicer way to call someone a fag. i saw a pretty bird that i thought bq would like. and he also likes saying the word inabah. i found someone i wanted to marry at quiznos. she was the cutest girl alive. but this concludes my mainly useless post that has very little to do with recording. maybe someone else will post something more informative.

love,
josh

    <lj:music>Clarity by Jimmy Eat World</lj:music>

Well, today was BQ day at the ol' Edward Myers studios. I had previously recorded all the clean guitar tracks for the first 5 songs and all the distortion tracks for one song, so today, I finished the distortion tracks for the remaining four songs. Not only did I do that, but I doubled the distortion guitar tracks for every song except for song 5 and awkward, which I plan on finishing tommorow. Normally, I was using my strat and my Ampeg Reverbrocket head through my Orange Cab for my lead guitar tones, but for my doubling, I used my DeArmond M75T and Josh's Marshall TSL 2000 head, and it sounds amazing!!! We also used a third mic for the doubling, which thickened the tone for the doubled guitar, and it brought a lot of depth to my tones and ultimately to all the songs.

But my G goes out of tune on both my strat and my DeArmond, and that pisses me off a lot.

And Edward has a copy of Whatever and Ever Amen by Ben Folds Five in his CD shelf above the computer, which is a CD i hold in very high reguard, and constantly reminds me to not suck when recording so that maybe our CD will be that good.

So far, the CD is going amazing, and I can tell already that I'm going to be extremely proud of this, and every ounce of blood, sweat, tears, and Wendy's that we're going to put into this is going to be completely worth it. That's all I can think of, so everyone have a nice day!

Love,
BQ
ps. Listen to "Clarity" by Jimmy Eat World, it really is one of the best cd's i've ever heard, and it has changed my life, and I'm sure it will change yours too.

First day in the studio!!!

This whole summer, we've been brainstorming, writing, and demoing the songs for our new cd. The goal is to do the whole thing start to finish at a very efficient pace. For our last cd, we ended up spending too long on it, and by the time it came out we were already to move on.

Today, we went up to our studio in Horsham, PA for the first time. Today was just preliminary stuff ie: setting up drums, setting up mics, eating at wendy's, etc. Max and BQ got there earlier, but I showed up around 12:45.

The studio is awesome. We're definately going to have a really good time doing this one. Everyone seems really optimistic about it.
I still have a lot of lyrics to write.... an entire song and a half still need to be written.
Max is doing 5 of the songs on Thursday and Friday, and then Vince is going to go in Saturday to do some of the Bass tracks.
